Discovering Ipswich: Highlights from the Open Day
This weekend, we had the pleasure of visiting Ipswich for its much-anticipated open day, and it was a fantastic experience filled with exploration, learning, and community spirit.
As we arrived to the 1st old building, the vibrant atmosphere was immediately evident, with families, students, and staff coming together to showcase all that Ipswich has to offer. The first stop on our agenda was in town center, where we were struck by the blend of historic architecture and modern amenities. The charming streets were lined with unique shops and cafés, inviting us to linger a little longer.
One of the standout moments was exploring the interactive exhibits and activities set up at various local venues. From art displays featuring works by local artists to engaging workshops that encouraged hands-on participation, there was something for everyone. We even had the chance to try our hand at pottery, which turned out to be both challenging and immensely fun!
Throughout the day, we also attended informative talks that highlighted Ipswich’s rich history and cultural significance. Learning about the town’s historical sites, such as the beautiful St. Mary-le-Tower Church, the Waterfront area, Christchurch Mansion, Willis Building and The Ancient House only deepened our appreciation for the community spirit that defines Ipswich.
Another highlight was connecting with local organizations that had booths set up, showcasing their initiatives and opportunities for families to get involved. It was heartwarming to see so many community members passionate about promoting local businesses, arts, and charitable endeavors.
As the sun began to set, casting a warm glow over the town, we wrapped up our visit with a stroll along the River Orwell. Watching the boats glide across the water was the perfect conclusion to a day filled with discovery and connection.
Ipswich on open day left us inspired and excited about the vibrant culture and community that the town embodies, we were surprised how different this town is when you see this side of it, although we actually live here, we never managed to see this face of the town.
