Elmsett

Great 6.4 miles walk around Elmsett and an even better lunch at The George (Green King Pub) at Hadleigh.

After a short and lazy breakfast at home we ( Stela, her mom and myself) decided that we are not energetic enough to start dig the allotment again, this is how we choose to do a short walk around the near Airfield. The place itself is nothing so special, is more about the traditional English countryside atmosphere which cased the attraction, so we too our walking boots a camera and some nibbles in a tiny rucksack. I remember I try to stop at the Church hill to take some photos in the small valley where farmers let their sheep to graze near by the small creek, but sadly couldn’t find a safe spot to park my car so we decided to go and park in the village (Elmsett). I am planning to go back to this small place to take some photos, this tiny area looks like is out of a movies. The closest post code is: The Shed, Brook Farm, Ipswich IP8 4LJ

The total distance of the walk was 9.67 km (6.01 mi). From the village post office (where the parking is free in front of the park) we took off towards to Airfield. just before we got to the Airfield we took a sharp left turn and get on the footpath which crosses the start of the landing area of the active Airfield. Please be careful, this is a tiny but still active site, so chances are quiet high that you will see small planes landing or taking off on a bright and sunny weekend day. From the Airfield we went down to the main road which comes from Hadleigh. Again please be careful and wear some hi vis clothes if you walk the main roads, last thing you want to end up in a bad situation why you try to enjoy nature. Major part of the walk was on the main road until we finally arrived to the valley near Church Hill. From here we took Flowton Rd and start the slight climbing back towards Elmsett.

This is an absolute moderate walk. My ladies mom is in her mid 60`s and she could do it absolutely easily, without any issue. The track itself can be muddy if the weather is not dry for 3-4 days prior your visit, specially the footpath beside the Airfield. but we had plenty left to go from there to shake-off the mud from our boots until we got back to the vehicle.

We decided to visit Hadleigh as well as the ladies where keen to hop in to some charity shops and buy some quirky little things. Slightly exhausted by the walk we thought it would be lovely to put the crown on this brilliant day with a lunch at the local Green King pub The George (see their menu here: https://georgehadleigh.co.uk/food/). Absolutely brilliant, traditional English pub food with plenty of outdoor area and function room for party.

Here are some photos I took on this Sunday walk. Enjoy:
