A short vacation at The Inn on the Lake and Cobham Village
This weekend we decided to explore the picturesque landscapes of Kent and set our sights on The Inn on the Lake, a delightful spot that promised a day filled with charm and relaxation. Nestled next to a serene lake with stunning views of the surrounding countryside, it was the perfect getaway. We managed to book a room with the view to the lake.
As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by the sight of the lake, where ducks glided gracefully across the water. The peaceful ambiance made it easy to forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life. After settling in, we enjoyed a leisurely lunch, savoring delicious dishes while soaking in the beautiful surroundings. The inn’s cozy atmosphere and friendly service made us feel right at home.
After our delightful meal, we set off to explore Cobham Village, just a stone’s throw away and steeped in history. The village is known as the birthplace of former England cricket captain D.Gower, and we were excited to learn more about this charming location. Wandering through its quaint streets, we admired the beautiful old buildings and the lovely St. Mary’s Church, where Gower was baptized.
We stopped at a small village shop for a quick bite and a chat with the friendly lady, who shared stories about the village’s cricketing heritage and its famous son. It was wonderful to see how pride in local history permeated the community, making our visit feel even more special.
We enjoyed exploring the surrounding countryside, taking in the scenic beauty that Kent is famous for. With the sun shining and the air crisp, we made our way along the walking paths, laughing and chatting as we marveled at the stunning views of rolling hills and lush greenery.
As the day drew to a close, we returned to The Inn on the Lake to unwind. Sitting outside, with the sun beginning to set, we reflected on our lovely day filled with beautiful memories, delicious food, and a fascinating glimpse into Cobham’s history.
If you’re looking for a peaceful escape with a touch of history, I highly recommend a visit to The Inn on the Lake and the charming Cobham Village. It was a perfect blend of relaxation and exploration, and we can’t wait to return!
