Shotley Peninsula

A beautiful day at Shotley Gate

Today, we embarked on a delightful walk at Shotley Gate, parked conveniently across the road in front of the Bristol Arms where parking is free—a great way to start our adventure without any hassle just make sure you pull the parking brake, maybe leave your car in gear to make sure it will not roll downhill!

Our journey began as we strolled towards the marina, the gentle sound of water lapping at the boats setting a peaceful tone. The path along the River Orwell was a picturesque sight, with the sun shining and a crisp breeze accompanying us as we made our way toward Shotley Marshes. The fields were vibrant and teeming with life, and crossing the B1456 filled us with a sense of freedom and connection to nature.

As we wandered further, we couldn’t help but notice the beauty surrounding us. Daffodils danced in the breeze, flowering trees were a delight to the eyes, and the buzzing of bees added to the soundtrack of the day, reminding us of the vibrant wildlife that thrives in this beautiful area.

Continuing our walk, we made our way toward the heritage park, soaking in the history and charm of the surroundings before finally heading back to our car. The gentle exercise and fresh air did wonders for our spirits!

To make the day even more special, we stopped for a delicious fish finger sandwich with chunky chips at the Bristol Arms. The perfect way to conclude our outing before heading home, reminiscing about the lovely memories we created today.

A simple day spent in nature, filled with laughter, wildlife, and great food—it’s these little adventures that truly enrich our lives. Until next time, Shotley Gate!
