A day to remember: Our trip to Lake Como

Today, we embarked on an unforgettable adventure to Lake Como, starting our day with a scenic local bus ride from Tavernerio to Como. The morning air was fresh and invigorating, setting the perfect tone for our journey.

Upon arriving at the bustling Piazza del Popolo, we indulged in a delightful Italian coffee, its rich aroma awakening our senses and giving us the energy we needed for the adventures ahead. We then made our way to the local funicular, a charming ride that whisked us up to the beautiful Chiesa Parrocchiale di Sant’Andrea. The views that greeted us here were simply breathtaking, further fueling our excitement.

From the church, we hiked to Faro Voltiano in Brunate, where we were treated to panoramic vistas of the shimmering lake below. Standing atop this vantage point, we took a moment to soak in the beauty of our surroundings, feeling grateful for the opportunity to experience such a stunning landscape. 26°C already.

Descending back to Como, we couldn’t resist dipping our feet into the icy cold waters of the lake – a refreshing treat after our uphill trek! Revitalized, we savored the most amazing paninis and brioche, each bite a little piece of heaven.

Next, we ventured to the iconic Duomo di Como, marveling at its intricate architecture, before stopping at the Templo di Volta, a tribute to the brilliant scientist Alessandro Volta. Both sites were not only culturally enriching but also left us in awe of the local history.

Our adventures continued as we hopped on a bus to Bellagio. The highlight of our trip? Enjoying the best gelato we have ever tasted at Castelli Gelato! Its creamy texture and vibrant flavors were a sweet ending to our explorations.

After a leisurely stroll around the charming streets of Bellagio, we caught the bus back to Como and then returned to Tavernerio, our hearts full of joy and our feet weary from a total of 19.3 km on foot.

What a day it has been! From the hillsides to the lakeside, the breathtaking views and beautiful memories created will stay with us forever. Lake Como, with its stunning landscapes and delightful experiences, has truly captured our hearts.
