A beautiful day at Long Melford
Today, we had the pleasure of visiting the historic Melford Hall, a place brimming with history, charm, and beautiful surroundings. Our day was filled with exploration, relaxation, and discovery, making for a truly memorable experience.

Arriving at Melford Hall
Our adventure began right at the entrance, where we stopped at the charming bookshop. The shop was a cosy haven for literature lovers, offering a wide selection of books, souvenirs, and local memorabilia. It was the perfect place to pick up a memento of our visit and immerse ourselves in the literary atmosphere.
A warm welcome at the coffee shop
Next, we headed to the on-site coffee shop to indulge in some well-deserved treats. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and hot chocolate welcomed us as we settled into a comfortable corner. We savoured delicious cakes alongside our drinks, enjoying the inviting ambiance and catching up before exploring the historic hall.
Discovering Melford Hall
Our main event was a tour of Melford Hall itself. Steeped in history, the hall dates back to the 15th century and has been home to the Hyde family for generations. Its architecture reflects a fascinating blend of medieval and Tudor styles, and stepping inside felt like walking back in time. We admired the beautifully preserved rooms, learned about the hall’s storied past, and marveled at the antique furnishings and historic artifacts displayed throughout.
A refreshing 10km walk in the surrounding park
After our tour, we laced up our walking shoes for a 10-kilometer walk around the expansive surrounding park. The lush greenery, vibrant wildflowers, and peaceful grazing sheep made for a scenic route. The fresh air and natural beauty provided a perfect backdrop for some outdoor exercise and contemplation.
Exploring the village
Our walk also took us through the quaint village nearby. We visited the charming village church, a peaceful spot with centuries of history etched into its walls. Strolling through the village streets, we enjoyed the picturesque cottages and the friendly, welcoming atmosphere that encapsulates rural English charm.
We left feeling inspired, refreshed, and eager to return for another adventure. here are some photos from today, click on them to see them large and scroll through.
