Thornham Walks

Sunshine and soup: day out at Thornham Walks

There’s something about a crisp, sunny day that makes you want to lace up your boots and get moving. Today, we headed over to Thornham Walks for a loop that perfectly balanced nature, fresh air, and—most importantly—great food.

Coffee & Crumbs

We kicked things off at the car park and headed straight for The Forge. You can’t start an adventure on an empty stomach, right? We fueled up with hot drinks and a few snacks to get our energy levels where they needed to be.

Into the Wild

From there, we dived into the woods. The trees were buzzing with life today; we spotted squirrels darting through the leaves and a very regal pheasant crossing our path. As we wound our way towards the gardens, we even saw some horses grazing nearby and wild ducks enjoying the water. It wasn’t just the animals enjoying the weather—the trails were full of happy people soaking up the sunshine.

The Scenic Loop

We pushed on until we hit the North Lodge at the main road. A steady walk along the road brought us to the local church, a peaceful spot for a quick breather and a moment to take in the architecture before turning back.

The Grand Finale

The walk ended exactly where it should: back at The Forge. After a few miles on foot, their soup was exactly what we needed to warm up, followed by a few more treats (because one round of snacks is never enough).

It was one of those simple, perfect days where the weather, the wildlife, and the snacks all aligned. If you’re looking for a route that’s easy on the eyes and heavy on the hospitality, this loop is a winner.
