Wherstead

Circular walk to Wherstead and back

This short circular walk in Wherstead, Suffolk, offers a delightful experience through the countryside, just touching a section along the River Orwell. This scenic route passes by Erwarton Hall and the charming church at Church End before reaching the banks of the Orwell, providing panoramic views. The walk then continues north along the Orwell following the Stout and Orwell Walk. The Wherstead Woodlands circular walk offers a perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Suffolk and enjoy a peaceful outdoor excursion

We actually done this walk the other way, We went towards the forest 1st when we met a guy riding his horse in a nice traditional red hunting dress and was accompanied with lots of hunting dogs. Not to mention the forest was very muddy at this time of the year.

We managed to have a great time, some flower, dirty, muddy boots and a big smile on our face. If you willing to do this walk, you can leave the vehicles at Suffolk Food Hall or even the layby under the Orwell Bridge. The cakes and the hot drinks are an absolute must! We had a very scenic sunset when we got home. All in all a great day.

Here are some photos I took on this day. Enjoy: (pictures were taken with phone only) Click on photos to enlarge them.
